ACM ICMR 2017 is to be hosted by University Politehnica of Bucharest (UPB), the largest and the oldest technical university in Romania, with its traditions connected to the founding of the first Romanian higher technical school, back in 1818.
Today, UPB holds 15 faculties in different areas of engineering, e.g., Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Information Technology, Faculty of Automation and Computer Science, Faculty of Power Engineering, Faculty of Transports, etc; a faculty with teaching in foreign languages (English, French and German) and two interdisciplinary faculties for Medical Engineering and Business Management. The university provides education for about 27,000 students yearly (for license, master, doctoral and post-doctoral cycles) who are coordinated by more than 1,200 professors and researchers.
UPB is located on the West side of Bucharest (~17 Km/10 Miles from the airport and ~6 Km/4 Miles away from city downtown). UPB's large campus (~600,000 m2) provide the visitors with many facilities, including cafeterias and recreational spaces, parks, a library and conference building, a new aula (with 1,200 places), and two new interdisciplinary research centers (with green and self sustained buildings).
Conference location
Day 1 - June 6 (workshops & tutorials)
First day of the conference will be hosted in the UPB's Library/Conference Center ("Biblioteca Centrală UPB").
Day 2-4 - June 7-9 (main conference)
The main conference will be hosted in the UPB's AN010 “Radu Voinea” Amphitheatre and hallways, from the Main Rectorate Building.
How to reach the location
The postal address of UPB is: University Politehnica of Bucharest, 313 Splaiul Independentei Bd., Sector 6, 060042 Bucharest. Please note that UPB's campus is very vast, if to search for any information, use as reference the name of the university and the Main Rectorate Building.

Reaching the venue from the city
By car: If you are traveling by taxi please note that the access of cars in UPB's campus is regulated and subject to a fee (~1.5 Eur). You may use one of the two entrances: via "Splaiul Independenței" boulevard or via "Iuliu Maniu" boulevard (see the car pictograms on the map). If you come with your personal car, please note that there are plenty of parking spaces within the campus, free of charge.
By subway: In case you take the subway, the closest stations are "Politehnica" and "Grozăvești" (see the metro pictograms on the map). If to take "Politehnica" subway station, please note that apart from the normal exits, there is also a direct passage to enter UPB's campus. When coming from downtown, take the subway station exit towards the tail of the train and then exit on the left and go straight. In 100 meters you will reach the UPB's Rectorate Main Administrative building - a building with a big cupola. As a landmark you should pass underneath the road through a small pedestrian tunnel.
Reaching the venue from the airport
By taxi: A taxi station is situated in front of the Arrivals Terminal of Bucharest "Henri Coandă" International Airport (ask at the airport information desk). The driver should take you to "Universitatea Politehnica din București, Clădirea Rectoratului". This is a ~17 Km drive that, depending on traffic conditions, should take around 30 to 50 minutes.
By public transportation: Bucharest "Henri Coanda" International Airport disposes of a dedicated bus line, the 783 Express Line, that connects the airport with the city center. The bus station is situated in front of the Arrivals Terminal; bus tickets can be purchased in this terminal. More information on bus schedule and tariffs can be found on the airport webpage http://www.bucharestairports.ro/en/transport. You should take the bus till the end of the 783 line, i.e., "Piața Unirii" station. The trip would take around 45 minutes. From "Piata Unirii" you should take the subway "Piata Unirii 1" and exit at "Politehnica" station. From here there is a shortcut to enter the UPB campus. Take the subway station exit towards the tail of the train and then exit on the left and go straight. In 100 meters you will reach the UPB's Rectorate Main Administrative building - a building with a big cupola. As a landmark you should pass underneath the road through a small pedestrian tunnel.
